my inspiration for inSpiraled...
Color and texture have been my forever-friends. They inspired me as I took my very first steps through the aisles of hardware, fabric, and antique stores, and into the surf along sandy beaches; my favorite places, still. I'm easily enchanted; sorting found objects, discovering new tools, and searching for supplies are all still magical.
A lifetime of rescuing lonely items and granting their wish for a new purpose has been my response to an innate need to create something from not so much. One of my greatest pleasures during my twenty plus years as an art teacher in Maryland was nurturing my students' creative endeavors; encouraging them to turn what they perceived as mistakes into triumphs, or to see beauty and potential in something others may disregard or determine mundane.
Since 2003, home has morphed from Maryland to Shanghai, China, to South Carolina, to North Carolina. Every place I've called home has contributed to my sentimental stash of stumbled-upon treasures. Some finds wait years to tell me the direction they want to head, and occasionally one changes its mind and requests a reincarnation.
I hope you discover something that speaks to you.
